Which one are you?

Here's an interesting post about multiple Facebook personalities I read the other day. Find out if you are a Crusader, De-tagger, Late Bloomer, Minimalist, Poser, etc.

I'm trying to decide which category I fall into. Unfortunately (or fortunately) none of them fit me that well, though I'll admit I'm a bit of a Crusader at times.

For those of you that discover you're indeed a Stalker, Awkward Adder, or Poser please feel free to remove our status as Facebook friends. Or let me know, so I can do so.

And if you're reading this on JohninOrlando.com, which means you might be one of the 220 million Americans without Facebooks, what are you waiting on?

Manic Monday is Here!

Dear loyal readers (all 3 of you),

It's that time of the week again. You know the one, where all of your crazy weekend shenanigans have winded down and it's time to get serious again.

For some of you it's back to your real life version of Office Space.  For others of you who are still lucky enough to call yourself a student, it's back to school.

And for still others, it's just another day in paradise (meaning you're mooching off your parents and trying to decide what to do with your life.)

Regardless of what your consider your 9 to 5, it's Monday which means its back to the daily grind.

Need something to help take a little bit of the edge off?  Well you're in luck.  Manic Monday is here and promises to be funny, frenzied, and frantic.  To kick it off, here's a rare shot of my step-dad Roger.

Here's hoping for a manic-free rest of the week.

Where in the World is OBL?

The Super Size Me guy, Morgan Spurlock, is out to change the world...one movie at a time. Below is the trailer to his most recent stroke of brilliance: Where in the World is Osama Bin Laden. World governments and special military ops can't find him, perhaps Spurlock can do the job.

It opened in selected theaters yesterday. Click here for your local listings.

Something to Say

I've been thinking about something that has come up in several conversations I've had, blogs I've read, and even music I'm listening to right now. It's the idea of having something to say and saying it. I think we all have something to say about a wide variety of topics, but what separates us are those that think certain things and those that speak what they're thinking.

What I'm getting at is that if you have something to say, just say it. Whatever "it" is. That's the beauty of this worldwide web of inter-connected computers. You and I have the ability to put a thought out on the internet and it can literally circle the globe within seconds. Of course, none of that matters if no one is listening, thinking, and reacting to what you have to say. In fact, it's almost pointless.

The main reason I started blogging more is because I wanted to engage in the conversation. Not because I have all or even most of the answers. But I know that the more I talk about my thoughts, ideas, and beliefs the more I am able to shape and mold them into even better ideals. And that can only happen with your help.

That's why my first post on JohninOrlando.com ended with the following: "So here’s to you and me and the future of our online relationship. Without your readership or, better yet, your comments I am merely posting a conversation with myself. I don’t know about you, but that sounds really boring to me! For both of our sakes, I hope it works out."

Keep on reading, writing, and saying whatever it is you have to say. That way, our conversation can become that much better.

Shout out to GMR!

Great Movie Ride. Those three words mean many different things to different people. Perhaps you have no idea what I'm talking about...that's okay. Those of you that do, know that I'm referring to the Great Movie Ride at Disney's Hollywood Studios.

For me, it invokes memories from a couple of fun months working as a guide on a storied attraction at Walt Disney World Resort. I enjoyed my two months and then moved on, but once a Rider always a Rider.

That's why I wanted to share this post from the Disney and More blog that is about the Imagineering that went into designing the great ride now hidden by the hat.

Enjoy.

Dear Obama Haters

Give it up. At the risk of jinxing the guy, I'm going to go ahead and make things much easier for all parties involved. Barack Obama is going to win the DNC's nomination this summer (the smart money is saying sometime in June.) Then he will go on to win the election on Nov. 4th, 2008 and be sworn in as the 44th President of the United States in January.

Oh and in case you were wondering, by my calculations he has about a 87.6% chance of winning re-election in 2012. That is assuming of course he doesn't have any major missteps in his first term in office. And there's always the outside chance that the Clintons will try to impeach him.

As for anyone that's caught up in the Clinton/Obama scandal or mildly enthusiastic about the GOP's chances this year...it's okay. No one's going to judge you for those thoughts and hopes of yours. I'm just trying to give you the heads up that its not going to work out for you this time.

My advice would be to take a look at the potential field of candidates for 2016. And watch out for the Independent Party, they will be more than fed up with the polarization of our two party system and be looking for a well spoken leader with a familiar face. Mark my words, we have not seen the last of the Ron Paul "Revolutionaries."

That said, I do hope that Barack Obama is able to back up all of his "soaring rhetoric" and actually make some (if only a small) change in politics as usual in Washington. Is there a chance he could be the next Jimmy Carter? Sure, but I'll take that over George W's third term as some are calling a McCain Presidency. (And I voted for the man, twice.)

New music to check out

So if you've talked to me lately, road around in my car, or worked remotely near my office at work...you already know that I'm all about the new Panic! at the Disco CD "Pretty. Odd."

Here's the first single from that album. And a great way to kick off the weekend I might add.

YouTube vs. GodTube

I'm over it already. I'm over it, and I've only seen a few of the videos hosted on the site. Have you heard of GodTube? Apparently its the premier, Christian video-driven social network where users find inspiration, interact, chat, share and upload Christian videos.

I stumbled upon the site awhile back, when a friend sent me a link to a wonderful music video entitled "Baby Got Book". I loved it...the video that is. However, you can watch the exact same video on YouTube if you'd prefer.

First off, what's so bad about YouTube? Why did some Christian feel as though they had to start their own version of the online video sharing site? Wouldn't it be better to share great Christian content on YouTube than to go off and start you own thing that only a select group of Christians watch anyway.

It's sort of like Christian music. I love bands like Switchfoot, The Fray, and others that decide to break out of the Christian sect of the music industry to reach a broader audience. In fact why not take a positive message like theirs to a larger, and decidedly less Christian, audience? Isn't that what we're really called to do as Christians?

I'm not saying Christian music is bad, I just think its great when talented artists branch out into the mass market. I realize that there are some that would call them sell outs...oh well. They're entitled to their opinions.

So back to GodTube. I'm not a fan. I'm not saying I hate the idea, I just think there's a better way to go about things. If you are a Christian and you disagree with select content on YouTube (and the entire internet for that reason) don't watch it! It's really that simple. No one's holding a gun to your head demanding that you watch girls dance in bikinis on YouTube.

Anyway, maybe I'm being a little too tough on whatever bright soul created GodTube.com. What say you?
